The Living City Environmental Dinner: Help Us Celebrate 25 Years of Engagement

August 16, 2018

On November 1, 2018, The Living City Foundation will host the 25th Annual Living City Environmental Dinner. As the Foundation’s signature fundraising event, the dinner brings together environmental and industry professionals, government representatives, donors and community leaders to raise awareness and build support for TRCA.

What’s in Store for 2018

Date: Thursday, November 1, 2018
Time: Cocktail Reception from 5:00-7:00pm
Dinner from 7:00-9:00pm
Location: Universal Eventspace, 6250 Highway 7, Vaughan

The dinner is expected to attract over 600 guests. Through the event theme of Nature, Cities, and Wellness, attendees will be exposed to the trailblazing work that TRCA has led over the years, and the exciting projects that we have on the horizon.

This year’s event emcee, José Vivar, brings an energizing and relevant community focused perspective to the dinner. As an award-winning public speaker, entrepreneur, certified personal trainer, writer and role model, José is leading the charge for safe, healthy communities.

José’s work with youth at-risk calls attention to the importance of providing accessible greenspace in high-density urban areas as spaces for health promotion and wellness. By celebrating our work and recognizing the connections to his own, he will demonstrate the many meaningful ways in which TRCA benefits nature and community wellbeing in one of Canada’s largest and fastest growing urban regions.

How You Can Get Involved

As many of you know, the dinner is a fantastic opportunity to cultivate relationships and build the profile of our organization and its teams. It’s a chance to share with hundreds of influential guests the breadth, scope, impact and importance of the work that we do across the Greater Toronto Area.

But to help make this year’s milestone event a success, the Foundation needs your support and participation.

There are five great ways to get involved and support the event:

Promote the event across your network

Encourage contacts in your network to join us at the dinner. Information and tickets are available at: https://thelivingcity.org/the-dinner/

Solicit sponsorships or share your prospects with the team

Sponsorships are vital to the event’s success and provide businesses with opportunities for networking, brand recognition and promotion among an audience of 600+ guests. If you have any prospective sponsors, please contact the Foundation for prospect clearance and to request support, if desired, in solicitation (i.e., the Foundation can make the pitch on your behalf).

See below for the dinner’s sponsorship leaflet and sample solicitation letter.

Make an award nomination, and invite others outside of TRCA to do the same

This year, awards have been refreshed and are open to the public for nominations as well as staff. Nominations are due by September 13. Information and nomination forms can be found here for the Living City Impact Awards: https://thelivingcity.org/living-city-impact-awards/ and here for the Charles Sauriol Leadership Award: https://thelivingcity.org/charles-sauriol-leadership-award/.

If you’ve worked with an outstanding group or professional to help advance TRCA’s mandate, please nominate them for their great work! We encourage everyone to share the awards with their network as well to encourage nominations from our partners and the public.

Secure items for the silent auction

The silent auction is a chance for brand promotion (both at the event and online). Please look to your network for any businesses that might be willing to donate an item or experiential offering to this high-profile event.

Spread the word about this year’s scholarships

The Foundation is accepting applications for the B. Harper Bull Scholarship Awards until September 30. Information can be found here: https://thelivingcity.org/scholarship-awards/. Please share this opportunity with external contacts (note: scholarships are not available to family and relatives of staff or board members).

Get in touch

If you are able to support the dinner, please get in touch with Judith Reda at jreda@trca.on.ca or 416.661.6600 ext. 5403. The Foundation’s development team is grateful for your support – and they are ready and eager to help you with any of these efforts.

Finally, don’t forget to get your tickets and join us on November 1 for this year’s milestone event!
