Recycling Collection Drive Campaign

October 4, 2022

Good morning TRCA Staff,

In celebration of Waste Reduction Week and Circular Economy Month in Canada, from October 10-23, 2022, TRCA’s Partners in Project Green is partnering with Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) and Diabetes Canada. As an organization whose purpose is to protect and restore the natural environment, we often focus on the important needs of our local watersheds, and it’s equally important to ensure that we take steps to align our internal operations with TRCA’s community-based sustainability goals. To this end, we are fortunate to be able to take advantage of and participate in Waste Reduction and Recycling Collection and to drive sustainability deeper into our own operations, and to support staff in taking steps to further their own sustainability journeys.

I, and the whole TRCA Senior Leadership Team, encourage you to get involved by bringing your unwanted clothing, household textiles and your old electronics for safe and secure recycling.

Waste Reduction Drive [September 23 – October 29]

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 to address the growing problem of e-waste and the increasing ‘digital divide’. For over fifteen years, ERA has offered simple solutions to help individuals and organizations prevent operational equipment from premature destruction. With a focus on recovery, refurbishment and reuse, ERA continuously supplies charitable groups with donated IT equipment while securely managing the retiring IT assets of organizations and individuals across Canada.

Waste Reduction Drive is a plug-and-play employee engagement campaign that supports organizations to collect used electronics, helping to divert waste from landfill, and engage employees around sustainability.

Did you know that 85% of clothing waste is currently sent to landfill? TRCA will host a Recycling Collection Drive where you can donate your unwanted clothing and household textiles to Diabetes Canada. It’s the perfect opportunity to clean out your closet.
