June 23, 2022

Today, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) half-masts our flags to commemorate and acknowledge National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism. TRCA pays tribute and remembers those who have lost their lives and the families who mourn the loss of a loved one.

On this day in 1985, 329 innocent people, including 280 Canadians, were killed by a terrorist attack on Air India Flight 182 bound for the United Kingdom from Canada. This remains the deadliest terrorist attack in Canadian history.

To honour the victims of this tragedy and of terrorist attacks across the world, the government of Canada declared June 23 of every year as a National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism.

TRCA continues to choose compassion and embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion while providing a safe work environment for all.
