Funding Opportunity – Seniors Community Grant (SCG)

Funding Amount: Between $20,000 and $25,000.
Matching funds: Grants can support up to 100% of the total eligible project costs. A Senior Community Grant cannot be used to support costs that are funded by another source.
Duration: Projects are anticipated to start by July 2023 and must be completed by March 31, 2024.
Statement of Interest (SOI) due: no later than Friday, February 3, 2023
The Minister of Seniors and Accessibility is looking to fund supports that help seniors be more engaged with their communities.
The Seniors Community Grants, offered through the Ministry of Seniors and Accessibility, is looking to help community organizations’ that directly benefit older adults living in Ontario provide opportunities for greater social inclusion, volunteerism and community engagement for older adults, from the safety of their homes or other safe environments.
The Seniors Community Grants Program funds local not-for-profit community groups and organizations deliver projects, supports and resources that help older adults (aged 55+) to:
- Live independently
- Live with safety and security
- Stay connected with their community
- Avoid isolation
- Achieve greater financial security and social connections.
Projects must involve older adults and must meet at least one of the ministry’s key priorities outlined in the program guidelines below:
- Increasing older adults’ awareness of how to identify, report and prevent elder abuse and fraud
- Reducing older adults’ social isolation by increasing access to programs and services.
- Increasing volunteerism and promoting employment and entrepreneurship among older adults
Programming can be delivered remotely, virtually, or in-person with proper health control measures in place. At least 50% of the participants benefiting from the project must be 55 years of age or older.
