Environment and Climate Change Canada – EcoAction Program (2023) is now open.
Environment and Climate Change Canada’s EcoAction Community Funding program funds projects across Canada that lead to tangible environmental results, engage the community to improve the environment, increase environmental awareness, increase capacity in communities, and result in sustainable outcomes and engagement following project completion.
Funding is available for new projects, beginning in summer 2023, that engage Canadians and clearly demonstrate measurable, positive results related to the key Environmental Priority: Fresh Water.
The maximum EcoAction funding is $100,000 per project, with a minimum request of $25,000 per project. The maximum project duration of 36 months. At least 50% of the total project value must come from sources other than the Government of Canada.
Proposed projects must address the following Priority Result:
Canadians contribute to improving freshwater quality through actions that reduce harmful substances in fresh water and/or restore and protect freshwater ecosystem health.
Preference will be given to proposals that engage Indigenous Peoples, youth, and/or partner with small businesses.
All projects and activities must include:
- activities that will lead to tangible environmental results within the timeframe of the project;
- opportunities for community members to take action;
- at least one (1) environmental indicator AND one (1) capacity building indicator as per the program’s list of performance indicators

Please submit your Statement of Interest (SOI) through the Grant Centre no later than Thursday, November 10. In your SOI, please include the accounts that the matching funds are coming from.
