Funding Opportunity – EcoAction

The EcoAction Community Funding Program funds projects across Canada to encourage Canadians to take action to address the priority program area of Clean Water, and to build the capacity of communities to sustain these activities into the future. This year’s EcoAction priority program area of Clean Water is freshwater.
The maximum EcoAction funding is $100,000 per project; the minimum funding amount request is $25,000 per project for a maximum duration of 36 months. A minimum of 50% of the total project value must come from sources other than the Government of Canada.
Your project must include one related priority result:
- Canadians contribute to the improvement of water quality through the diversion and reduction of harmful substances in freshwater OR
- Canadians contribute to improvement of freshwater management and increase climate resilience through action involving the development and/or restoration of natural infrastructure
All projects and activities must include:
- activities that will lead to tangible environmental results within the timeframe of the project;
- opportunities for community members to take action;
- at least one (1) environmental indicator AND one (1) capacity building indicator as per the program’s list of performance indicators (please refer to the EcoAction Applicant’s Guide);
- an explanation of the potential for self-sustaining continuity after the termination of EcoAction support.
Projects that have a strong community engagement and education component must also include the methodology to measure the extent to which behavioural change will be achieved within the timeframe of the project, e.g., pre and post project surveys.
