Funding Opportunity – Community Building Fund

August 31, 2021

Maximum Funding Amount: $10,000 – $500,000

Expression of Interest due: September 10

Thanks in part to the advocacy of TRCA’s Funding & Grants team, the Ontario Trillium Fund is once again accepting funding applications from conservation authorities.

The Community Building Fund (Capital Stream) provides support for non-profits, Indigenous communities and municipalities in the community sport and recreation sectors. The fund will help strengthen communities by supporting the repair, renovation or retrofitting of existing sport and recreation facilities to address:

  • local community need by extending the life and maximizing the use of existing facilities (e.g. playgrounds, splashpads, etc.) OR
  • COVID-19 related public health requirements now that support future preparedness.

Please also note the following: although there is a limit of one application per organization, organizations can request multiple capital improvements within a single facility (e.g., touchless entry and widening of doorways) OR the same capital improvement at multiple facilities (e.g., HVAC retrofits at three separate facilities).

As only one application will be accepted per organization, this will be a competitive intake. If you are interested in applying for this fund, please fill out the linked Expression of Interest spreadsheet. TRCA may be eligible to partner on additional applications (not as the lead applicant) – confirmation pending. Please contact Max Smith (Funding & Grants Coordinator) with any questions relating to the eligibility of your project, application requirements, etc.

Expressions of Interest are due no later than end of day September 10. Due to the competitive nature of this fund, EOIs submitted after this deadline will not be considered.
