November 30, 2022

Funding Amount: 100% of wages (up to $15.50/hr)

Deadline to inform Funding and Grants of application: December 12

Canada Summer Jobs is an initiative of the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment Strategy. The objective of the program is to help young people between the ages of 15 and 30 – particularly those facing barriers to employment – gain skills, work experience, and abilities necessary to transition successfully into the labour market.

Eligibility Details

Canada Summer Jobs funds full-time employment opportunities lasting a minimum of 6 weeks and a maximum of 16 weeks, at a minimum of 30 hours per week. Eligible positions must begin between April 24, 2023 and July 24, 2023 and end no later than September 2, 2023. All young people between the ages of 15 and 30 are eligible for employment under this initiative, regardless of their educational or employment status.

As a not-for-profit employer, TRCA is eligible for wage subsidies up to 100% of the Ontario minimum wage ($15.50).

PLEASE NOTE (NEW THIS YEAR): Canada Summer Jobs will no longer pay out claims for employees who worked fewer than 30 hours per week. Please ensure that you have budgeted for the possibility of an absentee employee, or ensure that you are able to re-hire positions in time for the July 24 final start date.

How to Apply

If you are interested in applying for funding under this program, please fill out this Canada Summer Jobs spreadsheet in Sharepoint with a row for each separate position by no later than Monday, December 12.

You will be notified once you have been approved to proceed with an application, at which time you will be sent a fillable form and further instructions.
