TRCA Adventures of Salmon

October 3, 2022

More than 1,900 community members joined us yesterday, on a gorgeous fall day, to experience TRCA Adventures of Salmon at Morningside Park in Scarborough.

This free family event celebrated an amazing natural phenomenon that happens right here in the heart of Canada’s largest city: the annual migration of salmon through the rivers and streams of the Greater Toronto Area to their spawning grounds.

Visitors enjoyed the opportunity to follow the trails within the Highland Creek watershed while learning about the migration of salmon, the various species, their life cycle, and the work that TRCA is doing to help them thrive in the waters of the GTA!

While the salmon were a little reluctant to make an appearance on Sunday, there are still opportunities to catch a glimpse of them on their fall journey. If you’re out exploring our local waterways in the next couple of weeks, remember to keep your eyes peeled!

Spotted a salmon? Report your sighting using TRCA’s interactive story map. You’ll be helping our monitoring team assess the state of the local salmon population. LEARN MORE.

A special thanks to all the staff members who contributed to the success of TRCA Adventures of Salmon.
