TRCA’s Media Relations Specialist, working with the CEO’s office, seeks media coverage to highlight TRCA programs, events, and initiatives and generate increased awareness and understanding of the organization among target audiences. Media coverage is secured by issuing media releases, pitching stories to members of the media, and other means.
The Media Relations Specialist works with members of the Senior Leadership Team to determine which TRCA initiatives are the most newsworthy and of the highest strategic importance, and prioritizes media outreach for these initiatives.
In order to maintain a good working relationship with members of the media, the Media Relations Specialist carefully considers how newsworthy an initiative is and how likely the media is to cover the initiative before outreach begins.
