Staff Feature – The HR Team

January 14, 2021

This past year has been unparallel for the HR team and all TRCA employees, and all have done a great job working through the incredible challenges presented by COVID-19, together as a team. It has been tremendously rewarding to see how all TRCA employees have rallied together and gone that extra mile to ensure TRCA continues to deliver high-value services for our partners, stakeholders and the public.

Through the management of COVID-19, the HR team and their colleagues took a lead role in ensuring the health and safety of all TRCA employees continued to be a top priority. The HR teams’ efforts have supported management in ensuring the continuation of TRCA business operations while mitigating COVID-19 impacts on the employees.

The HR team has accomplished some great work in the management of COVID-19 while maintaining the highest of health and safety standards and supporting business continuity during the pandemic. This work includes:

  • establishment of TRCA’s COVID-19 Recovery Playbook and Pandemic Flu and Infectious Illness Policy;
  • creation of a redeployment program to mitigate staff impacts;
  • development and delivery of resources to help manage the shift to alternative work arrangements;
  • effective management of the procurement of COVID related PPE and products during tenuous times;
  • proactive management of changing legislative and public health requirements;
  • development and delivery of employee communications regarding updates on COVID to ensure employees were kept appraised of COVID related actions and management;
  • development and continuous review of COVID-19 IMS procedures for our various TRCA operations;
  • development and roll-out of COVID-19 training for staff;
  • establishment of procedures and management protocols for COVID-19 contact tracing, limiting potential exposures;
  • sourcing and delivery of mental health and wellness support and training made available to all staff; and
  • the roll-out of site-specific audits to ensure continued compliance and alignment with the current government and public health directives.

This critical work was accomplished while the team continued to deliver high quality day-to-day, project and divisional priorities support.

For these efforts, a huge thank you goes out to the HR team and all the employees that have supported and continue to support the HR team in the management of COVID-19. Your dedication, passion and willingness to adapt to these changing circumstances with such agility and commitment have made 2020 a year to look back on with a sense of accomplishment and pride. Thank you!
