Staff Feature – Riley Valade and Evan Robertson
August 10, 2020
Conservation Parks are a very important interface where the Public gets to know who TRCA is and what we’re all about.
After a nice afternoon and evening in Glen Haffy Conservation Area in late June a Conservation Parks Member and their family discovered they had a flat tire on their vehicle. They had trouble attempting to repair their tire themselves and road-side assistance wasn’t available. As it was getting dark, the visitors were becoming very nervous.
Fortunately Park superstars Riley Valade and Evan Robertson, seasonal staff at Glen Haffy Conservation Area, were completing their closing duties and noticed the distressed visitors and offered their assistance. They chatted with our park patrons and put them at ease, checked things out and proceeded to take the damaged tire off and replace it.
This is Riley’s third, and Evan’s second consecutive summers with the TRCA Parks team. It is not uncommon for these two to go above and beyond. They are very helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. Our Conservation Parks Member stated in an email to management later that, “we feel we are treated as valued family member at TRCA.”
Thank you to Riley and Evan! Once again a day at one of TRCA’s magnificent parks was a great memory for members of the public who enjoyed a day in the woods, meadows, trails, sunshine and fresh air.
