Announcement of Scheduled Maintenance for TRCA Enterprise System

Information Technology and Records Management is pleased to announce the implementation of regularly scheduled maintenance for TRCA’s enterprise systems. The scheduled maintenance windows will occur on the first Wednesday of every month from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm beginning on Wednesday, January 1, 2020.
Scheduled maintenance provides strategic availability of a planned outage which allows ITRM staff to perform a variety of operations on production systems. The tasks performed may include preventative maintenance, system reboots, configuration changes, software upgrades or repairs. This can involve, but is not limited to, applications, servers, network and communication systems managed by ITRM. During scheduled maintenance windows, staff may experience limited or no access to IT systems or services.
Scheduled maintenance aims to reduce but does not replace the requirement for Unscheduled Maintenance activities that may be required due to urgent issues. It is important to note that a maintenance window may not always have maintenance activities scheduled for the full window time or there may not be maintenance activities scheduled at all.
Benefits of scheduled maintenance include:
- Reduction of emergency IT outages due to preventative maintenance activities
- Reduction in length of average outage time due to regular maintenance activities
- Improved reliability and performance of IT systems and services
- Improved planning of activities that coincide with scheduled maintenance windows
Please note that maintenance or outages of systems or services not managed by ITRM, such as Office 365 and Ceridian Dayforce, are communicated by the service provider. ITRM will notify staff impacted by these types of activities as unscheduled maintenance.
