TRCA Celebrate the Humber

September 12, 2022

We were so thrilled by yesterday’s turnout for our TRCA Celebrate the Humber event at Étienne Brulé Park!

Hundreds of community members joined us to learn about the health, history, and environmental benefits of Toronto’s only Canadian Heritage River, while exploring the trail system and discovering the many seasonal activities that residents in the Humber River Watershed can experience.

Visitors enjoyed the day’s opportunities to wander the Humber River Recreation Trail, to try their hands at fishing and canoeing, and to stop at educational stations to learn about the rich heritage and culture of the Humber.

Education activities included a Climate Stories in the Humber station, where visitors could learn about the impact of climate change on the river, discuss opportunities to take action, and participate in a watershed planning survey – one early step in TRCA’s development of a new Humber River Watershed Plan.

It was a beautiful day to celebrate and raise awareness of the Humber River and its cultural and recreational values. A special thanks to all the staff who contributed to making TRCA Celebrate the Humber such a successful event.
