Funding Opportunity – Nature and Climate Grant Program
December 21, 2021
Maximum Request: $135,000/year (2 year project duration)
SOI Deadline: January 6
WWF Canada is holding an open call for Expressions of Interest for the Nature and Climate Grant Program, presented by Aviva Canada. This program is designed to support local and Indigenous organizations in taking measurable actions for restoration of degraded lands and shorelines. The actions that receive resources from WWF Canada will improve ecosystem wellbeing and result in increased carbon storage potential through sequestration. These efforts are focused on ecosystems in priority regions — areas identified, through systematic analysis, to have the greatest need and potential for recovering biodiversity and increasing carbon stored in nature.
Examples of shovel-ready projects include: habitat creation or enhancement; seeding/planting native tree species; tree planting; restoring natural saltwater flows; bank stabilization; and restoration activities that will prevent the loss of carbon sinks.
Further information about the program is available here.
Only one application may be submitted per organization, so projects will be subject to an internal prioritization by decision matrix.
As WWF is prioritizing projects led by Indigenous organizations or with Indigenous partners, and as only 5 projects will be awarded funding, only projects with a significant Indigenous partnership will be considered.
