Setup Okta Verify on Your Mobile Device Task
Okta Verify is an MFA factor and authenticator app developed by Okta. The app is used to confirm a user’s identity when they sign in to their Okta account.
What you will need:
- Computer, tablet or phone
- Okta Verify application for iOS or Android
- Your Single Sign-on Credentials
Step 1: Download and install the Okta Verify App from either the Google Play or Apple App Store on your mobile device
Step 2: Login to your Okta Dashboard using your computer’s web browser.
Note: Your username is your email address and your password is your existing TRCA single sign-on password.
Step 3: When prompted to ‘Set up multifactor authentication‘ click the Setup button located adjacent to the Okta Verify option. (if you are not prompted, see Step 3a)
Step 3a: If you are not prompted to set up MFA, you can still complete the setup by clicking on the Settings tab
Click on the Settings button located in the dropdown under your first name in the Okta Dashboard:
Click on the Edit Profile button:
In the lower right side of the Settings panel, you will see a section called Extra Verification, click on the Set Up button adjacent to the Okta Verify option.
Note: You may be prompted to re-enter your password, please do so to proceed to the next step.
Step 4: Select your device type and click Next
Step 5: Open the Okta Verify App on your mobile device and select the Organization Account Type
Step 6: Select the Scan a QR Code option to bring up the camera and scan the QR code that is shown on the login screen
Once this is complete, MFA is setup for your account and you will receive an email confirming that the MFA device was set up.
Going forward you will need to confirm the push notification sent by the Okta Verify App when logging into TRCA Single Sign-on applications. If you need to remove a device at any time or if you have problems logging in, please contact the ITRM Service Desk:
