Funding Opportunity – Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund (DMAF)

August 4, 2021

Maximum Funding Amount: N/A (minimum $1M)

Statement of Interest due: August 23

The Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund (DMAF) is a national contribution program intended to support public infrastructure projects designed to mitigate current and future climate-related risks and disasters triggered by climate change, such as floods, wildland fires, droughts and seismic events.

Eligible infrastructure projects include new construction of public infrastructure and/or modification or reinforcement of existing public infrastructure that prevent, mitigate or protect against the impacts of climate change, disasters triggered by natural hazards, and extreme weather.

Proposed projects will require 60% matching funding.

There are two intakes for this round of DMAF funding.

The Large-scale project stream will support projects with total eligible costs of $20M and above. If you are interested in applying to the Large-scale project stream, please complete an Expression of Interest here. You will not need to complete a standard SOI form.

The Small-scale project stream will support projects with total eligible costs between $1M and $20M. If you are interested in applying to the Small-scale project stream, please complete a Statement of Interest here.

Please note: If you plan to partner with another agency who is leading an application, you will still need to submit an EOI or SOI according to the above streams. Your EOI/SOI should highlight the following: scope of work of both the project at large and TRCA’s contribution, anticipated timelines, total anticipated costs (both TRCA and total), project partners, and the municipality in which the project is occurring.

A second assessment period will follow in summer 2022, so please keep in mind that projects which are not currently ready for application may be submitted next year.

The Applicant Guide provides further information regarding eligible costs, eligible projects, and additional project guidelines.

If you are interested in applying, please contact Max Smith to discuss initial project details and eligibility (max.smith@trca.ca). Statements of Interest and Expressions of Interest (for the first assessment period) are due no later than 5:00PM on August 23.
