March 1, 2021
Maximum Request: 50% of Eligible Costs, up to $90,000,000 per fiscal year
Statement of Interest due: March 10
The Growing Canada’s Forests (GCF) program is a financial assistance program by Natural Resources Canada to help meet the Government of Canada’s commitment to plant two billion trees over the next ten years.
To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate capacity to undertake projects that:
- Result in a minimum of 5,000 trees planted;
- Monitor tree survival and report on project outcomes;
- Demonstrate compliance with applicable COVID-19 health and safety protocols
Eligible activities consist of those directly related to tree planting, managing trees and forests, and monitoring the health and growth of planted trees. Costs where the planting, management and monitoring is legally required following commercial activity or as a condition for impact assessment approval are not eligible.
Priority will be given to projects that can take advantage of the early part of the tree planting season (i.e. “shovel-ready” projects).
If you have a project that you are interested in submitting, please submit an SOI through the Grant Centre no later than March 10. If you have any questions, please contact the Funding & Grants Coordinator at max.smith@trca.ca.
